School cook

We are seeking to recruit a school cook to join our team.

Woodcroft is an independent primary school for approximately 40 children with a range of complex needs and autism. We have recently started to produce our own lunches in an interim kitchen. We are looking for the right person to drive this initiative forward, develop our school kitchen in line with our school ethos and move towards our long term goal in achieving Food for Life gold standard certification. Food for Life is a Soil Association initiative promoting healthy food based on humane and sustainable farming. A commitment to organic, local and fair trade sourcing is essential.

Candidates should have some expertise in cooking for large numbers (preferably in an education setting) and have a genuine interest in producing fresh and nourishing school meals and snacks. The role will include managing and coordinating stock control, hygiene, menu development and budget control.

  • 5 hours per day, 37 weeks per year (term time only)
  • Salary: £10.48 – £11.43 per hour (dependant on experience)
  • Role to start 7 January 2019

Closing date for applications Friday 7 December 2018.

First interviews will take place on 10 December and short listed candidates will be required to attend second interview on 13 December 2018.
